02/September/04 - SIGNATURE FOR MAR4 PETITION!

I don't believe it! The initials of our petition turn out to be my most hated date ever! Unledd it was the fourteenth of March... Hmm... I'll check in a minute on the R4SP website. For those of you who don't know, March the fourth, or March the fourteenth, was the rumored release date of Rayman 4, the year before. Scroll right down to the bottom to check it out. This year, people started saying it would come out on March the fourth, or fourteenth, (I promise to check later,) again. It didn't. Now, as I feared, someone said that it was going to come out March fourth, or, yes, the fourteenth, yet again! It's driving me up the wall. There is no evidence what so ever that says that this will be the release date! Now, after that rather large diversion, the main point of this update. I'm sure you know it allready, if you have read the other updates today, so here it is. Just copy the code below, and paste it into your signature. 02/September/04 - UBISOFT GAME PRESENTATION!

Hi, I'm back again. Sorry for the lack of updates, but as you know, I was away, and there wasn't actually anything to update about. Finally we have a non "White Hot" post, setting the organisation of this page back to normal again, thank goodness. UbiRazz should be back from the big UbiSoft games show that they have been preparing for for a very long time, this Monday. That day is the hunts SEVENTH MONTH anversiary, so we may get lucky, and UbiSoft may unveil Rayman 4 at this presentation.

I'm not supersticious, but it's nice to have something to look forwards to.

UbiRazz has confrimed that:

"There are currently no plans to end the Rayman series in 2007 and it's likely that a new Rayman product will be released well before 2007.

It's very likely that Darkam's comments have been misinterpreted or taken out of context, or simply translated wrongly."

Here is another thing that gives more info about what is to come in R3 (sorry if this has been posted)

While the existence of Rayman 4 is not really a big secret (it was already semi revealed a year ago), more details have emerged today as a Ubisoft forum administrator confirmed that Rayman 4 has been in the works since Rayman 3 was released, in 2003. The administrator says we will surely see Globox again, and maybe an alliance between Rayman's former enemies as none have really been "killed." He promises more details later on but for now we have to settle for the fact he says it will be released "before 2007." If you speak French, head over over to the RaymanZone forum.

A fourth Rayman adventure is in the works, according to Ubisoft representatives posting on the official Rayman community site forums. It may not arrive very soon, though -- the gist of the French comments is that the game will definitely come out "before 2007."
A fourth title in the series starring Michel Ancel's famously limbless hero has evidently been in the works since the 2003 release of Rayman 3, which would mean the current plan could have it spending as much as four years in development.

The posting also notes that Rayman's fourth outing "may be his last," and that it could cover some of the relatively shadowy origins of the main character and his race.

We'll look forward to more Rayman news...well, in the coming years, anyway. After the comparatively disappointing Rayman 3, the series will hopefully be able to bounce back in its next installment.

Indeed it is.

This reveals that:

1. The Rayman game will be about the origins of Rayman. This is a great idea

2. The Game will include Globox, as expected. We will also probably see Murphy, as he says so in Rayman 3.

3. It will be released before 2007, which we already knew

4. It was in the works at the end of Rayman 3, which we already knew

5. Old enemies may return. Good idea as well, imagine a giant mechanic hoodlum, covered in cloth... Great!

6. After Rayman 4, the game may NOT stop in it's tracks, but it might actually be sold to another games company... Wuhoo! If this company isn't French, then it should mean it's better. (Because of translations etc.)

7. The current plan could mean Rayman 4 spends four years in development, you could certainaly look at this in a positive way

Somewhere on RaymanZone, according to this recent web page, it was hinted that Rayman 4... Will be the LAST Rayman game...

This is... Terrible...

Search for this condeming article. I think it's in the French section... We have to ask Darkam...

It also confirms that Rayman 4 started work after Rayman 3 finished... And that it will be released before 2007. This we allready knew, but the rest came as a shock...

11/July/04 - RYOSAN RETURNS WITH NEWS - WHY?!?

Today, Ryosan came back to RaymanZone with news. I used a program to translate his speech:

"Moreover the arrival of Rayman 4 ( hypothetical, I do not promise anything ) will not announce the closing of this community. The raymanzone is precisely there to gather all the fans of Rayman and that is not ready to stop because it is really a will of Ubisoft, very as much as Darkam or me. Please do not confuse unwillingness and reality misses means. You will not be released!"

So... It's a little hard to figure out what to make out of all this

... Well... I suppose I'll make some bullet points...

1. When Rayman 4 comes, the RaymanZone forum will not close - Good!

2. Ryosan says Rayman 4 will probably come - Strange way for him to put it

3. UbiSoft doesn't want the forums to close either - Is there some kind of threat that they will...

4. I think the end bit means that, even if we aren't getting information, we won't be forgotten, and left alone... This is the kind of thing that they would have to do if Rayman 4 is a secret project... Make sure the fans don't think the game isn't being made, just because they aren't hearing it is...

Is there some kind of threat to RaymanZone..? I don't know what to make of this... It's a bit odd... At least they're aware we want information... I'm confused... What do you think?

Nothing much, just some melodies I composed completely from scratch

. Be prepared at the beggining - my speakers sounded like they were about to blow up in the first half a second. If you get that horrible scratch noise too, could you please alert me, I'm not sure if it's only my pestilent computer.

<Edit- Talking about pests, I just got that noise again. I now believe it to be less of a scratch noise, and more of a "fly splatting against a wall" noise. Just thought I'd mention it... -Edit>

5/June/04 - EVEN MORE NINTENDO DS INFORMATION!!!

Okay, more news: Nintendo DS isn't a permenant title, so Rayman DS isn't either.

There is loads of info about the console HERE

Apprantly, the console will be dual screen, touch sensitive, multiplayer, and loads more. I underlined multiplayer because it may point out that Rayman DS - therefore possibly Rayman 4 - will need that capability.

Also the new Rayman game will NOT be an old title:

( The site calls it a new Rayman title. )

Another site says that there is a new Rayman game IN DEVELOPMENT - But from the look of things, I don't think any sites have infomation about when devlopment was started.

One more thing: It seems that loads of developers are really exited about this console, because of it's NEW capabilities - again, possbly new capabilities that Rayman DS - Maybe to be named Rayman 4 - will need.

5/June/04 - NINTENDO DS INFORMATION!!!

Thanks to Jona, new evidence has come to light: The Nintendo DS will be released BEFORE CHRISTMAS! If my inclinations are right... That could mean playing Rayman 4 before 2005! That IS something! We should start getting info from Ubisoft much sooner than I thought. The only reason I can think of that ( if ) they would release so early, is that they had kept the old Rayman model, plus had a seperate team working on Rayman 4 whilst the others worked on Rayman 3...

5/June/04 - MAJOR NEWS CONCERNING RAYMAN 4!!!

For the third time ever, I have gone completely mad and not posted in orange or yellow... But in red... The reason I would do something so terrible? Well, we seem to have finally uncovered evidence that Rayman 4 is to be released at the following date: --/--/----.

You see, unfortunately we don't yet know, but I'm sure the evidence is obtainable somewhere on the net: That's why it's red alert!

The evidence ( I still havent told you what on earth the evidence is...

) says that Rayman will be released as the new console - Nintendo DS - Is released. I did a little research, and discovered that Nintendo DS will be a handheld console.

At a first glance this looks like bad news; the SITE that says "Rayman 4" will be released on the new console actually doesn't: It simply states "Rayman"... But I believe that it's still good, after all, wasn't Rayman 3 released on Game Boy Advance? I think their plans are similar here: When Rayman 4 is released on all the non-handheld next gen's, they will release a 2D platformer on the Nintendo DS.

If you've understood ( unlikely

) this, you should be able to work out how to find the release date of Rayman 4: Find the release date of this new console. In my opinion, It's going to be what Munches Oddosey for Xbox - A game that is released with a console, but this time it will also come out on other consoles.

My advice: Go to a search engine. Type in Nintendo DS. Look at every single site that comes up until you find a possible release date for the console. Then post it here. 5 points on the top ten browsers board for the first person to find it.

September 28, 1998 - Ubi Soft confirmed last week that future plans for the Rayman series are under way. Rayman 3 and 4 will appear on all of the newest next-generation game consoles, including PlayStation 2 and Dreamcast, the company explained in an unofficial statement last week.

While it's not unusual for game developers to think two to three years into the future, especially with a bread-and-butter game like Rayman (a series that inevitably will include Rayman 5, 6, 7, etc.), Ubi Soft's two-team strategy portrays more than just good planning. While one team prepares initial concepts for Rayman 3, a separate team is brainstorming Rayman 4, of which the company showed early concepts to game journalists last week in its Montpellier, France offices.
Rayman 3 is under way by a Ubi Soft team in Paris that doesn't actually include its creator, Michel Aneel (who's beginning work on Rayman 4). Rayman 3 will take advantage of the both Dreamcast's and (possibly) PlayStation 2's multplayer aspects, a major shift in the series. The whimsical Aneel explained that Rayman 3 will feature racing aspects, including possibly cars or other vehicles in a four-way split-screen division, but won't be a deathmatch-style game. When asked to further explain, the tall, bespeckled artist kindly declined.

Company officials at Ubi Soft explained that their current focus is Rayman 2, which will arrive on Dreamcast, PC, Nintendo 64, and PlayStation in the first quarter 1999. But with the upcoming systems looming just over the horizon (Dreamcast in fall 1999 and PlayStation 2 possibly in 2000), the company explained it needed to get to grips with the new games now.

Despite the lack of a PlayStation 2 development kit (which no third-parties appear to have yet), Ubi Soft's proprietary engine software enables it to create characters and levels which it can later port directly to any system.

With Rayman 2 still in the final stages on the PC, about 50% complete for the Nintendo 64, and in the beginning stages for the PlayStation, creator Aneel explained that his ambitions for the jointless, loveable character include generating a Rayman game each year, leading into the year 2001 (for now). Based in the Montpellier offices, Aneel and his team of about 20 are currently at work on a 3D Rayman cartoon and Rayman 4.

13:56 Ubi Soft let slip during an online Q&A forum with fans, that there will be a Rayman 4.
While not the world's most earth-shatteringly unexpected news - as Rayman 3 has been critically acclaimed in most places - it at leasts confirms that Ubi Soft is working on a next-generation platform romp of their favourite character, Rayman.

Funnily enough, the Rayman 4 confirmation information gleaned from the Q&A conflicts with the official line from Ubi Soft UK. "No official confirmation of further Rayman games has been given," a spokesperson for the publisher told us today.
